The Lantern Atlas

In the world of glotworld, the Atlas forgets whatever nobody says aloud. Your journey begins in Lindenhafen, where a railway is vanishing. A letter leads you toward Waldruh’s missing hour and the strange lighthouse of Nebelstadt. Your choices shape the people who trust you and the story’s ending.

German is part of how you investigate: listen to a witness, read a clue, ask a question and write a reply. The language has a place in the story, and the story gives you a reason to return.

What you can do today

Build a character, explore three painted towns and follow eighteen story investigations. Visit cafés, shops and the inn; practise through sentence-building, listening, short written replies and reviews. Ten optional coastal expeditions open after the main story.

glotworld teaches German. In the game, meanings and help are available in twelve languages, including English and Turkish, and the game interface is available in all thirteen languages of this website.

A clear view of the experience

glotworld runs in a browser and requires an internet connection. Desktop and mobile controls are supported. Other players can appear in the same region, while story choices and learning progress remain individual. Cooperative quests and evidence trading are future work.

The game includes reading, listening and constrained writing practice. It does not assess pronunciation, provide spoken conversation with a tutor or award a language certificate. Recorded dialogue uses synthetic voice sketches. World illustrations on this website introduce the setting; gameplay images show the game interface.

About these field notes

Our public German-learning guides offer original examples, practical explanations and small exercises. They are starting points for practice, not a substitute for an accredited course. Research and official level references are linked where used. We do not claim that a study of a learning technique is a study of glotworld.
