Who we are
glotworld is a browser game for learning German, operated by SGK Consulting. We are responsible for the personal data described on this page.

What we collect
- Account: an email address and password, or the sign-in you choose with Google, Facebook, Instagram or TikTok, with your character, display name and game progress. Passwords are stored only as a salted hash.
- Social sign-in: when you continue with Google, Facebook, Instagram or TikTok, that service tells us your account ID there and your display name; Google also shares your email address once it has verified it. We never receive your password there and never post on your behalf.
- Learning data: your answers, quest and practice results, words you have learned, and play time used.
- Purchase records: which plan you bought and its status. Creem, our payment provider, handles your payment details; we never see or store your card number.
- Usage analytics: on this website and in the game, page views, sessions, how far a page is scrolled, how long it stays open, which kind of link is clicked (for example Play or a lesson) and a few product events. We count visits per day: our server tells them apart by a code it computes from your IP address and browser type with a random key that changes every day and is never stored, so we cannot recognise you on another day. Nothing is stored in your browser for this. We never record what you type, your answers as text, or full URLs.
- Contact form: the name you give, if any, your email address and your message, so we can answer you. We keep a message only as long as we need it to handle your request. The form’s spam check runs on our own server and sets nothing in your browser.
- Technical data: your IP address and browser type are used briefly to limit abuse and, only in the coded form above, to count visits; neither is stored in analytics.
Why we use it
We use your data to run the game, save your progress, provide paid access, prevent abuse, answer support requests and improve lessons. We do not sell your data and we do not show advertising.
Payments and service providers
Purchases are processed by Creem, which acts as merchant of record. Creem receives the details needed to take payment, pay taxes and send receipts, under its own privacy policy. Our hosting providers store our data on our behalf.
Cookies and local storage
We store nothing in your browser for analytics or advertising. Browser storage holds only what the game needs: your login, your language and settings, your choice about usage analytics, and an invite code while you browse this website. Signing in with Google, Facebook, Instagram or TikTok sets one short-lived cookie that protects the sign-in and is removed when it finishes.
Your choices and rights
You can switch off usage analytics in the game’s account settings, and we honour Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. You can ask us to send you a copy of your data, correct it, or delete your account and progress. Email us from the address on your account and we will reply within 30 days. Where the law gives you more rights, such as complaining to your data protection authority, those apply too.
Retention and children
Analytics events are kept for 180 days. Account, progress and purchase records are kept while your account exists and as long as tax or accounting law requires. glotworld is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way we will update the date above and, for registered players, tell you in the game or by email.
