Numbers help with prices, ages, addresses and timetables. Learn small groups aloud and then use them in real questions instead of only counting upward.

The idea

From 21 to 99, many German numbers put the unit before the ten: ein-und-zwanzig, zwei-und-dreißig. They are normally written as one word. Watch the shortened forms sechzehn and siebzehn and the spelling dreißig. Eins becomes ein inside einundzwanzig. For prices, practise both hearing a number and pointing to the correct written digits.

Watch out

Do not reverse the digits because the spoken order feels unfamiliar. Zweiunddreißig is 32, not 23.
