Meaning and useful combinations
Ausweis can mean an identity document or a membership or library card. Personalausweis is more specific than Ausweis.
Useful combinations: einen Ausweis vorzeigen; der Bibliotheksausweis; ein gültiger Ausweis. Practise each as a complete phrase; the article belongs to the noun even when an adjective comes between them.
