Meaning and useful combinations
Fuß forms Füße with an umlaut. Zu Fuß means on foot and is a fixed phrase without an article.
Useful combinations: zu Fuß gehen; auf einem Fuß; der Fußweg. Practise each as a complete phrase; the article belongs to the noun even when an adjective comes between them.
Article check: nominative singular
die Fußder FußThis check asks for the nominative singular: der Fuß. In the meaning taught here, Fuß is masculine. The nominative plural is die Füße. Learn both forms together; an English translation does not determine German gender.
