Meaning and useful combinations
Straße is feminine. Street names can appear without an article in an address, but the noun itself retains its gender.
Useful combinations: eine Straße überqueren; auf der Straße; die Hauptstraße. Practise each as a complete phrase; the article belongs to the noun even when an adjective comes between them.
Article check: nominative singular
das Straßedie StraßeThis check asks for the nominative singular: die Straße. In the meaning taught here, Straße is feminine. The nominative plural is die Straßen. Learn both forms together; an English translation does not determine German gender.
