Check the model sentence

• Die Abgabe ist nicht vor Montag. — Ich gebe es am Sonntag ab. → Die Abgabe ist nicht vor Montag; ich gebe es frühestens am Montag ab.

  Nicht vor sets the earliest time, so Sunday does not fit the condition.

Watch out

Repeatedly timing the same memorized passage measures familiarity as well as reading. Use a new text for the next check and keep accuracy beside the time.

Use a short notice with a clear question, such as the deadline or meeting place. Check the answer after reading instead of measuring speed alone. Keep one first attempt and one correction so you can compare what you produced before seeing a model.
