Describe clothes by color, then turn a simple description into a phrase before a noun. Notice this example: „Die Jacke ist blau.“

The idea

After sein, a color stays unchanged: Die Jacke ist blau. Before a noun, endings matter: die blaue Jacke.

Watch out

A plural ending and an adjective ending do different jobs; learn Schuhe separately from blaue Schuhe.

Try it yourself

  1. Ohne Nomen: Die Jacke ist ___. (blau / blaue)

    rote

„rote“ — Before a noun, the adjective must match the article, gender and case.

    Schuhe

„Schuhe“ — The task names more than one, so use the learned plural form.
