The idea
Sentences open with a place word and keep the verb second: “Links malt die erste Gruppe eine Stadt”. Entstehen means to come into being: “Auf der Stadtseite entsteht ein Platz”. Passen zu takes the dative: “Eine Straße passt zur Stadt”. Genug follows the adjective, as in “breit genug für Menschen und Fahrräder”. Einer and der anderen contrast two sides.

Im Jugendzentrum malen zwei Gruppen ein großes Bild auf Papier. Links malt die erste Gruppe eine Stadt. Rechts malt die zweite Gruppe einen Wald. In der Mitte bleibt ein weißer Streifen. Niemand weiß, was dort entstehen soll.

Watch out
Readers may think the bridge is Mina’s first idea. She first paints a river into the white strip: “Sie malt einen Fluss in den weißen Streifen.” Only after a boy asks how people reach the forest does she add the bridge.

Then write one plausible alternative ending and mark it clearly as your own invention. Compare your retelling with the text to check that you did not invent details unintentionally.
