The idea
Directions use nach: “Er folgt dem Pfeil nach rechts”, with folgen taking the dative. Verkehrt herum means upside down: “Das Schild hängt verkehrt herum”. Movement verbs form the perfect with sein: “Beim Putzen ist es heruntergefallen”. Befestigen uses haben: “Jemand hat es danach falsch befestigt”. Beim plus noun means while doing something.

Watch out
Despite the title, the arrow is not actually missing. It is there but points the wrong way: “Der Pfeil zeigt wirklich nach rechts.” The neighbour explains: “Das Schild hängt verkehrt herum.” Ali also adds words so the direction is clear.
