The idea

Zeigen and vorführen both mean to demonstrate; vorführen is separable: “Ich führe den Schritt … vor.” Bei plus nominalised verb names the moment: “beim Wechsel”. Zwischen takes the dative when it describes position: “zwischen diesen beiden Anzeigen”. “Den Überblick verlieren” means to lose track. “Unter Anleitung” means under supervision. Die Einarbeitung is the induction period at a new job.

Other ways to say it

“Könnten Sie das bitte etwas langsamer zeigen?” – Polite Konjunktiv II; asks for a slower pace.

“Darf ich es einmal selbst probieren, während Sie zuschauen?” – Polite; asks to practise with the trainer watching.

“Zeigst du mir das noch mal?” – Informal with du; “noch mal” is the spoken form.

Watch out

“Beim Wechsel zwischen diese beiden Anzeigen.” → “Beim Wechsel zwischen diesen beiden Anzeigen.”: Zwischen is a two-way preposition; for a position or an abstract relation it takes the dative, so the plural article becomes diesen. Learners keep the nominative form.

Try it yourself

  1. Translate into German: Can you demonstrate the final work step again?

    Show answer or example answer

Können Sie den letzten Arbeitsschritt noch einmal zeigen?

Polite question with Können Sie. Den letzten Arbeitsschritt is masculine accusative, noch einmal means again, and zeigen closes the sentence.

  2. Put the words in order: Anzeigen / beiden / Beim / diesen / Wechsel / zwischen

    Show answer or example answer

Beim Wechsel zwischen diesen beiden Anzeigen.

A short answer without a verb. Beim (bei dem) plus the noun Wechsel names the moment, and zwischen takes the dative plural.

  3. Write this sentence in German: Then we will see exactly what remains unclear.

    Show answer or example answer

Dann sehen wir genau, was noch unklar ist.

Main clause plus an indirect question with was: the verb ist goes to the end. Genau means exactly, noch means still.
