The idea
Ändern is transitive (ich ändere die Nummer) or reflexive (die Nummer hat sich geändert). Seit + dative gives the starting point: seit dem letzten Termin. Phone numbers are often read digit by digit or in pairs (null-eins-sieben-zwo …). Angeben means to provide information; ersetzen means to replace. “Zurücklesen” is separable: “Ich lese die Ziffern … zurück.”
Other ways to say it
“Ich habe eine neue Handynummer.” – Short everyday way to start; Handy means mobile phone.
“Könnten Sie bitte meine Kontaktdaten aktualisieren?” – Neutral to formal; covers phone, address and email.
Examples
- Meine Telefonnummer hat sich seit dem letzten Termin geändert. My phone number has changed since the last appointment.
- Möchten Sie die neue Nummer angeben?Would you like to provide the new number?
- Ja, bitte ersetzen Sie die alte Nummer.Yes, please replace the old number.
- Ich lese die Ziffern anschließend zurück.I will read the digits back afterwards.
- Bitte sprechen Sie dabei etwas langsamer. Please speak a little more slowly when doing so.
- Dann prüfen wir gemeinsam die neue Angabe. Then we will check the new information together.

Watch out
“Meine Telefonnummer hat geändert.” → “Meine Telefonnummer hat sich geändert.”: When the number changes without a named agent, ändern needs the reflexive pronoun sich. Without sich the sentence lacks an object and sounds incomplete.

Translate into German: My phone number has changed since the last appointment.
Show answer or example answer
Meine Telefonnummer hat sich seit dem letzten Termin geändert.
Reflexive perfect “hat sich … geändert”; sich follows the auxiliary, and “seit dem letzten Termin” gives the time point.
Put the words in order: alte / bitte / die / ersetzen / Ja / Nummer / Sie
Show answer or example answer
Ja, bitte ersetzen Sie die alte Nummer.
“Bitte ersetzen Sie” is a polite imperative; “die alte Nummer” is the accusative object to be replaced.
Write this sentence in German: Then we will check the new information together.
Show answer or example answer
Dann prüfen wir gemeinsam die neue Angabe.
“Dann” opens the sentence and pushes “prüfen” to second place; “gemeinsam” shows both sides check the entry.
