The idea
Zeigen takes a dative person and an accusative thing: mir diesen Spielzug zeigen. Der Spielzug is a move in a game; die Runde is a round. Noch nicht means not yet. Vorspielen (to play something as a demonstration) is separable: “Ich spiele eine Runde vor.” An indirect question such as “ob die Regel klar ist” puts the verb last. Friends say du.
Other ways to say it
“Wie genau funktioniert das mit dem Tauschen?” – Casual; das mit dem … is a spoken way to name a topic.
“Können wir eine Proberunde spielen?” – Neutral; eine Proberunde is a practice round.
Examples
- Kannst du mir diesen Spielzug einmal zeigen? Can you show me this move once?
- Meinst du das Tauschen der Karten?Do you mean exchanging the cards?
- Ja, ich verstehe die Reihenfolge noch nicht.Yes, I do not understand the order yet.
- Ich spiele eine Runde offen vor.I will demonstrate a round with my cards visible.
- Danach versuche ich den Schritt selbst. After that I will try the step myself.
- Dann sehen wir, ob die Regel klar ist. Then we will see whether the rule is clear.

Watch out
“Kannst du mir zeigen, wie funktioniert das Tauschen?” → “Kannst du mir zeigen, wie das Tauschen funktioniert?”: After zeigen, the wie-clause is an indirect question, so the verb funktioniert moves to the end. Keeping question word order is a very common error.
Try it yourself
Translate into German: Can you show me this move once?
Show answer or example answer
Kannst du mir diesen Spielzug einmal zeigen?
“Kannst du” asks a friend; “mir” is dative, “diesen Spielzug” accusative, and “zeigen” ends the sentence.
Put the words in order: die / ich / Ja / nicht / noch / Reihenfolge / verstehe
Show answer or example answer
Ja, ich verstehe die Reihenfolge noch nicht.
“Noch nicht” negates with the sense of “not yet”; “die Reihenfolge” is the order of steps, the accusative object.
Write this sentence in German: Then we will see whether the rule is clear.
Show answer or example answer
