The idea

Bearbeitungsrechte (editing rights) are usually plural; Rechte für plus accusative names the area. Short answers repeat the preposition: “Nur für diesen …”. Diesen einzelnen Unterordner is masculine accusative: both words end in -en. “Entsprechend eng” means narrow accordingly. Erforderlich (required) is a slightly formal synonym for nötig. Many organisations follow a least-privilege approach, so precise requests tend to be approved faster.

Other ways to say it

“Schreibrechte für den Unterordner Kontakte reichen mir.” – Neutral; reichen means to be enough.

“Den restlichen Bereich brauche ich nur zum Lesen.” – Distinguishes read and write areas.

“Bitte beschränken Sie die Rechte auf diesen Ordner.” – Formal request to IT, typical in a ticket.

Examples

  • Nein, nur für diesen einzelnen Unterordner. No, only for this particular subfolder.
  • Welche Aufgabe sollen Sie darin erledigen? What task are you supposed to complete in it?
  • Ich aktualisiere die freigegebene Kontaktliste.I update the approved contact list.
  • Dann beschreiben wir die benötigte Berechtigung entsprechend eng. Then let us describe the required permission correspondingly narrowly.
  • Ja, weitere Zugriffe sind für mich nicht erforderlich.Yes, I do not need any further access.

Watch out

“Nein, nur für dieser einzelne Unterordner.” → “Nein, nur für diesen einzelnen Unterordner.”: Für always takes the accusative. For a masculine noun this shows in the article and adjective: diesen einzelnen. In a short answer learners lose track of the case.

Try it yourself

  1. Translate into German: Do you need editing rights for the whole area?

    Show answer or example answer

Benötigen Sie Bearbeitungsrechte für den ganzen Bereich?

A yes/no question with “Benötigen Sie” first. “Für den ganzen Bereich” is accusative after für; ganzen takes -en after den.

  2. Put the words in order: Aufgabe / darin / erledigen / Sie / sollen / Welche

    Show answer or example answer

Welche Aufgabe sollen Sie darin erledigen?

“Welche Aufgabe” is the accusative object. The modal “sollen” is second, “erledigen” last, and “darin” refers back to the subfolder.

  3. Write this sentence in German: Yes, I do not need any further access.

    Show answer or example answer

Ja, weitere Zugriffe sind für mich nicht erforderlich.

“Ja” confirms, then a full clause. “Weitere Zugriffe” is the plural subject, and “für mich” names who does not need them.
