The idea

The state passive “ist geprüft” (sein + participle) reports a finished result. A second clause can leave out the shared verb: “der Zustand [ist] noch nicht [geprüft]”. “Noch nicht” means “not yet” and implies the step will follow. The du imperative drops the -st ending and the pronoun: halte … fest, from festhalten (to record). Ergänzen means adding the missing part to something already started.

Other ways to say it

“Gezählt ist alles, die Sichtprüfung fehlt noch.” – Spoken and casual; Sichtprüfung is a visual inspection.

“Offen ist nur noch die Zustandsprüfung.” – Neutral; puts the open point at the front.

“Können Sie bitte die Zustandsprüfung übernehmen?” – Formal Sie version for handing over the remaining step.

Examples

  • Die Stückzahl ist geprüft, der Zustand noch nicht. The quantity has been checked; the condition has not yet.
  • Soll ich genau diesen Punkt übernehmen?Should I take over that specific point?
  • Ja, bitte halte beide Prüfstände getrennt fest.Yes, please record both checking statuses separately.
  • Wo finde ich die bereits gezählte Ware?Where will I find the goods already counted?
  • Sie steht beschriftet im markierten Bereich. They are labeled in the marked area.
  • Dann ergänze ich nur den noch offenen Prüfschritt. Then I will add only the outstanding checking step.

Watch out

“Bitte hältst du beide Prüfstände getrennt fest.” → “Bitte halte beide Prüfstände getrennt fest.”: The du imperative has no -st ending and no pronoun. Learners often build it from the present tense “du hältst”, but the imperative also drops the vowel change: halte, not hältst.

Try it yourself

  1. Translate into German: The quantity has been checked; the condition has not yet.

    Show answer or example answer

Die Stückzahl ist geprüft, der Zustand noch nicht.

Two contrasted parts: “ist geprüft” for the finished step, then “der Zustand noch nicht” with the verb left out because it would only repeat.

  2. Put the words in order: beide / bitte / fest / getrennt / halte / Ja / Prüfstände

    Show answer or example answer

Ja, bitte halte beide Prüfstände getrennt fest.

A du imperative of festhalten: “halte” comes first, the prefix “fest” at the end. “Beide Prüfstände getrennt” means recording each check status on its own.

  3. Write this sentence in German: Then I will add only the outstanding checking step.

Dann ergänze ich nur den noch offenen Prüfschritt.

“Dann” opens, the verb “ergänze” follows, then “ich”. “Den noch offenen Prüfschritt” is masculine accusative; “noch offen” before the noun works as one adjective group.
