The idea

Verlegen (to relocate) expresses a direction, so in takes the accusative: in Reihe C, in die obere Etage. The simple past passive, “wurde verlegt”, asks about a finished change without naming who made it. The separable verb eintragen (to enter in a list or system) splits in main clauses: “Wir tragen … ein”. “Erst” here means “not before” a condition is met, which makes the sentence a careful promise.

Other ways to say it

“Ist Reihe C jetzt der feste Lagerplatz für diesen Artikel?” – Neutral; asks directly whether the new place is final.

“Steht der Artikel nur vorübergehend in Reihe C?” – Asks about the temporary option; useful during reorganisation.

“Bitte bestätigen Sie mir die neue Lageradresse.” – Formal request, typical in a ticket or an email to inventory control.

Examples

  • Wurde der Artikel dauerhaft in Reihe C verlegt? Was the item moved permanently to row C?
  • Die Änderung steht noch nicht in meiner Übersicht. The change is not yet in my overview.
  • Ich habe dort eine neue Kennzeichnung gesehen.I saw a new label there.
  • Dann fragen wir nach der gültigen Lageradresse. Then let us ask about the valid storage location.
  • Bis dahin ändere ich meinen Eintrag nicht.Until then, I will not change my entry.
  • Wir tragen erst die bestätigte Zuordnung ein.We will enter only the confirmed assignment.

Watch out

“Wurde der Artikel in der Reihe C verlegt?” → “Wurde der Artikel in die Reihe C verlegt?”: Verlegen describes movement to a new place (wohin?), so in takes the accusative. With the dative, “in der Reihe C” would mean the item was moved around inside row C.

Try it yourself

  1. Translate into German: Was the item moved permanently to row C?

    Show answer or example answer

Wurde der Artikel dauerhaft in Reihe C verlegt?

A yes/no question in the simple past passive: “Wurde” first, the participle “verlegt” last. “Dauerhaft” sits in the middle and is the real point of the question.

  2. Put the words in order: dort / eine / gesehen / habe / Ich / Kennzeichnung / neue

    Show answer or example answer

Ich habe dort eine neue Kennzeichnung gesehen.

The perfect with haben, “habe … gesehen”, reports a single observation. “Dort” points to row C, and “eine neue Kennzeichnung” is the accusative object.

  3. Write this sentence in German: We will enter only the confirmed assignment.

    Show answer or example answer

Wir tragen erst die bestätigte Zuordnung ein.

“Tragen … ein” is the split form of eintragen. “Erst” means “not before”: only the confirmed assignment, die bestätigte Zuordnung, goes into the system.

You find a familiar product on a different shelf with a fresh label. Ask inventory control whether the move is permanent and say you will keep the old location in your list until they confirm.
