Aus, bei, mit, nach, seit, von and zu consistently introduce dative noun phrases.

The idea

Learn the preposition with a complete example, including article and noun. Common contractions include vom for von dem and zur for zu der; plural dative nouns may need an extra n.

Watch out

A destination does not automatically mean accusative. Zu always takes dative: zu unseren Freunden. In the plural, check the noun ending as well as the determiner.
