The idea

“Eine Frage zu etwas haben” uses zu plus dative; zur = zu der. Das Typenschild is the rating plate with model data; the genitive is des Typenschilds. Begleiten takes the accusative: “begleite sie”. Zusammenfassen is separable: “fasse … zusammen”. Das Anliegen is a formal word for a request or concern. Speaking about a customer in her presence, colleagues usually say die Kundin.

Other ways to say it

“Da sind Sie bei den Kollegen in der Fachabteilung richtig.” – Polite to the customer; says who can help.

“Ich bringe Sie zu jemandem, der sich damit auskennt.” – Polite and warm; sich auskennen means to know about.

“Kurz zur Info: Es geht um ein Ersatzteil für Modell X200.” – Neutral; brief summary for the colleague.

Watch out

“Die Kundin hat eine Frage über die Ersatzteilbestellung.” → “Die Kundin hat eine Frage zur Ersatzteilbestellung.”: English “a question about” suggests über. With Frage, German normally uses zu plus dative; über sounds unidiomatic here.

Try it yourself

  1. Translate into German: The customer has a question about ordering spare parts.

    Show answer or example answer

Die Kundin hat eine Frage zur Ersatzteilbestellung.

Simple statement: die Kundin is the subject, eine Frage the object, and zur Ersatzteilbestellung (zu der, dative) names the topic.

  2. Put the words in order: des / ein / Foto / Ja / sie / Typenschilds / zeigt

    Show answer or example answer

Ja, sie zeigt ein Foto des Typenschilds.

Zeigen takes ein Foto as object; des Typenschilds is genitive neuter with -s, telling whose photo it is.

  3. Write this sentence in German: That way she does not have to repeat her entire request.

    Show answer or example answer

So muss sie ihr Anliegen nicht vollständig wiederholen.

So opens the sentence, so muss precedes sie; ihr Anliegen is accusative, and nicht vollständig negates only the degree.
