The idea
“Bis zu” plus dative asks for an end point: bis zu welcher Uhrzeit. Zurückgelegt sein is a state passive: the item is in reserved state. “Die Absprache nachfragen” means to check the agreement. Darunter means underneath, on the note. Bevor introduces a subordinate clause, sending ändere to the end. In German shops, how long items are held varies, so the agreement on the note counts.
Other ways to say it
“Wie lange halten wir den Artikel noch zurück?” – Neutral; zurückhalten means to hold back.
“Gilt die Reservierung bis Ladenschluss am Freitag?” – Neutral; asks for confirmation of a specific end.
“Weißt du, bis wann das hier liegen bleiben soll?” – Informal; asks a colleague directly.
Examples
Until what time is the item reserved?
- Auf der Notiz steht nur bis Freitag. The note only says until Friday.
- Dann sollten wir die genaue Absprache nachfragen. Then we should ask about the exact arrangement.
- Hat jemand mit der Kundin gesprochen?Did someone speak to the customer?

Watch out
“Ich frage sie, bevor ich ändere die Reservierung.” → “Ich frage sie, bevor ich die Reservierung ändere.”: Bevor starts a subordinate clause, so the finite verb ändere goes to the end, after the object. Learners keep English word order.
