The idea
Bevor introduces a subordinate clause with the verb at the end. When that clause comes first, it fills position one, so the main clause starts with its verb: klären wir. Erst and zuerst both mean first; erst often adds “before anything else”. “Das Wichtigste zuerst” is a verbless set phrase, often followed by a colon and a question. “Über etwas sprechen” takes über + accusative.
Other ways to say it
“Eins nach dem anderen: Erst brauchen wir die Maße.” – Neutral; slows the conversation and names the first need.
“Lass uns mit dem Wichtigsten anfangen.” – Casual suggestion to someone on du terms.
“Vorrangig sollten wir die Größe klären.” – Formal; vorrangig means as a priority, common at work.
