The idea
“Auf etwas zurückkommen” (to come back to something) is separable: “Ich komme … zurück”, with the accusative after auf. “Sich melden” is reflexive and means to get in touch; “dazu” refers back to the topic. “Spätestens” (at the latest) sets an upper limit without promising an exact time, and “Rückmeldung” is the usual word for the reply you will send.
Other ways to say it
“Ich melde mich bei Ihnen, sobald ich es geprüft habe.” – Formal and neutral; links the reply to the check rather than to a date.
“Ich kläre das und melde mich dann.” – Neutral and brief; works in person, on the phone or by email.
“Ich schau mal nach und sag dir dann Bescheid.” – Casual du version with dropped endings (schau, sag), typical in speech.
Examples
- Ich komme nach der Prüfung auf Ihre Frage zurück.I will get back to your question after checking.
- Wann kann ich ungefähr mit einer Antwort rechnen?Roughly when can I expect an answer?
- Ich melde mich dazu spätestens am Donnerstag.I will get back to you about it by Thursday at the latest.
- Dann muss ich heute nicht weiter nachfragen. Then I do not need to ask again today.
- Falls ich früher Klarheit habe, schreibe ich sofort. If I have clarity earlier, I will write immediately.
- Danke, ich warte bis zu Ihrer Rückmeldung.Thank you; I will wait for your response.

Watch out
“Ich komme zurück zu Ihnen nach der Prüfung.” → “Ich melde mich nach der Prüfung bei Ihnen.”: “I will get back to you” copied word for word sounds as if you will physically return. For a reply, German says “sich bei jemandem melden”, or “auf eine Frage zurückkommen” when the question is the object.

Show answer or example answer
Ich komme nach der Prüfung auf Ihre Frage zurück.
“Komme” sits in second place and its prefix “zurück” goes to the end. “Nach der Prüfung” is dative after nach; “auf Ihre Frage” is accusative after auf.
Put the words in order: am / dazu / Donnerstag / Ich / melde / mich / spätestens
Show answer or example answer
Ich melde mich dazu spätestens am Donnerstag.
“Melde mich” is the reflexive verb, “dazu” means about it, and “spätestens am Donnerstag” gives the latest day; time expressions usually come before the end of the clause.
Write this sentence in German: Thank you; I will wait for your response.
Show answer or example answer
Danke, ich warte bis zu Ihrer Rückmeldung.
“Bis zu” takes the dative, so it is “bis zu Ihrer Rückmeldung”. The polite capitalised Ihrer marks the formal register kept throughout the dialogue.
