The idea
Apropos comes from French and introduces a topic word; it stands outside the sentence, so the following question or statement keeps its own word order. “Wenn wir gerade von … sprechen” uses von + dative and puts the verb at the end. “Daran anschließen” means to follow on from something. Die Anfahrt is the journey to a place.
Other ways to say it
“Weil du gerade den Weg erwähnst: Kennst du den neuen Eingang?” – Neutral; names the link explicitly.
“Da fällt mir ein, der Treffpunkt hat sich geändert.” – Casual; “da fällt mir ein” means that reminds me.
“In diesem Zusammenhang möchte ich auf den neuen Treffpunkt hinweisen.” – Formal; suits meetings and written announcements.
Examples
- Apropos Anfahrt, kennst du den neuen Treffpunkt schon?Speaking of the journey, do you know the new meeting point yet?
- Nein, ich habe nur die alte Nachricht. No, I only have the old message.
- Wenn wir gerade vom Weg sprechen, sollten wir das kurz klären.Since we are talking about the route, we should clarify that briefly.
- Hat sich nur der Eingang geändert?Has only the entrance changed?
- Ja, genau daran schließt meine Frage an.Yes, that is exactly what my question connects to.
- Dann prüfen wir diesen verwandten Punkt gleich mit. Then let us check that related point too.

Watch out
“Sprechend von Anfahrt, kennst du den Treffpunkt?” → “Apropos Anfahrt, kennst du den Treffpunkt?”: English “speaking of” cannot be copied with a present participle. German uses apropos or a full clause such as “Wenn wir gerade davon sprechen”.

Translate into German: Speaking of the journey, do you know the new meeting point yet?
Show answer or example answer
Apropos Anfahrt, kennst du den neuen Treffpunkt schon?
“Apropos Anfahrt” stands outside the sentence, followed by a comma. The yes–no question starts with kennst; schon means yet.
Put the words in order: das / gerade / klären / kurz / sollten / sprechen / vom / Weg / Wenn / wir / wir
Show answer or example answer
Wenn wir gerade vom Weg sprechen, sollten wir das kurz klären.
The wenn-clause comes first with sprechen at the end, so the main clause starts with sollten. Vom is von + dem.
Write this sentence in German: Then let us check that related point too.

Dann prüfen wir diesen verwandten Punkt gleich mit.
“Gleich mitprüfen” means to check at the same time. Verwandt means related; mit is the separable prefix at the end.
