The idea
First determine the German verb's object case, then add nicht or kein without converting the object to genitive.
One contrast, not a prediction about every learner
Polish commonly uses genitive for the direct object of a negated transitive verb. German negation normally does not change the case assigned by the verb; an accusative object remains accusative.
Individual experience, dialect and other languages you know can change which comparisons help. Use the contrast to notice a German choice; do not treat it as a label for a whole group of people.
Repair the transfer
Ich sehe nicht des Hundes.Ich sehe den Hund nicht.First determine the German verb's object case, then add nicht or kein without converting the object to genitive.
Examples
- Ich sehe den kleinen Hund hinter der Hecke nicht.I do not see the little dog behind the hedge.
- Wir brauchen diesen zusätzlichen Ausdruck nicht. We do not need this additional printout.
- Die Kundin kauft keinen neuen Rucksack. The customer does not buy a new backpack.
- Ich kenne den neuen Nachbarn noch nicht.I do not know the new neighbor yet.
- Die Gruppe findet keinen freien Tisch im Hof.The group cannot find a free table in the courtyard.
- Er liest die letzte Nachricht heute nicht mehr.He does not read the final message again today.

Watch out
Do not generalize a source-language pattern to every German sentence. First determine the German verb's object case, then add nicht or kein without converting the object to genitive.
