The idea
“Fehlen” has the missing thing as subject: “Ein Stück fehlt.” “Liegen an” plus dative names the cause: “am gewählten Seitenverhältnis”. “Mir ist X lieber als Y” expresses preference with a dative person; after a comparative, standard German uses als. Anpassen (to adjust) is separable: “Wir passen die Einstellung an.” Entsprechend means accordingly.

Watch out
“Mir sind die Ränder lieber wie der Ausschnitt.” → “Die Ränder sind mir lieber als der Ausschnitt.”: Lieber is a comparative, and standard German uses als after comparatives. “Wie” after a comparative is heard regionally but counts as non-standard.
