The idea

Wofür is the question word for für + thing. “Wird … erbeten” is a formal passive of erbitten (to request). Zustimmen takes the dative: einer Sache zustimmen; the noun is die Zustimmung. Der Umfang means the scope. “Vor dem Unterschreiben” uses a nominalised infinitive after vor. Erläutern is a formal synonym of erklären. School letters use Sie.

Other ways to say it

“Wo werden die Fotos später veröffentlicht?” – Neutral and concrete question about publishing.

“Kann ich nur einem Teil der Erklärung zustimmen?” – Formal; asks about partial consent with dative einem Teil.

Read-aloud uses a synthetic German voice available on your device. Voice quality and availability vary; it does not assess your pronunciation.

Watch out

“Ich stimme die Aufnahme von Bildern zu.” → “Ich stimme der Aufnahme von Bildern zu.”: Zustimmen takes a dative object, so die Aufnahme becomes der Aufnahme. The noun Zustimmung on the form tempts learners to use the accusative.

Try it yourself

  1. Translate into German: What exactly is my consent being requested for?

    Show answer or example answer

Wofür genau wird meine Zustimmung erbeten?

“Wofür genau” asks for the purpose; the formal passive “wird … erbeten” has “meine Zustimmung” as subject.

  2. Put the words in order: Abschnitt / Aufnahme / Bildern / Den / die / über / von

    Show answer or example answer

Den Abschnitt über die Aufnahme von Bildern.

An answer without verb in the accusative; “über die Aufnahme von Bildern” names the topic of the section.

  3. Write this sentence in German: Then let us collect your specific questions about it.

    Show answer or example answer

Dann sammeln wir Ihre konkreten Fragen dazu.

“Sammeln wir” is a suggestion; “Ihre konkreten Fragen” is accusative, and “dazu” refers to the form.
