The idea

Official times: sechzehn Uhr dreißig (16:30), with Uhr between hours and minutes and no und. In speech people also say halb fünf. Frei sein means to be available. Vorgesehen sein für means to be planned for. Sich eintragen (to put your name down) is reflexive and separable: ich trage mich ein. Der Zeitraum is a period of time.

Other ways to say it

“Hätten Sie am Donnerstag noch einen Termin für mich?” – Polite Konjunktiv II; names the preferred day.

“Ich kann erst nach der Arbeit, ab etwa halb fünf.” – Neutral; explains your availability in spoken time format.

Watch out

“Um sechzehn Uhr und dreißig wäre noch Platz.” → “Um sechzehn Uhr dreißig wäre noch Platz.”: In the official clock format Uhr separates hours and minutes, and no und is added. English “four thirty” has no und either, so simply say sechzehn Uhr dreißig.

Try it yourself

  1. Translate into German: Is there still a meeting slot after four o’clock?

    Show answer or example answer

Ist noch ein Gesprächstermin nach sechzehn Uhr frei?

Verb-first question with ist; “noch” means still available, and “nach sechzehn Uhr” uses nach with a clock time.

  2. Put the words in order: das / eingeplant / Gespräch / ist / lange / Wie

    Show answer or example answer

Wie lange ist das Gespräch eingeplant?

“Wie lange” asks for duration; “eingeplant” is a participle in the passive with sein, meaning planned in.

  3. Write this sentence in German: Please check the appointment confirmation later.

    Show answer or example answer

Bitte prüfen Sie später die Terminbestätigung.

“Prüfen Sie” is the imperative; “später” means after booking, and “die Terminbestätigung” is the confirmation.
