The idea

Wurde … aufgerufen is past passive; rufen is strong, so the participle is gerufen and with the prefix aufgerufen. Schon (already) asks about timing. Letters in numbers are read as letters: B zweiundvierzig. Mitbekommen (to catch, notice) is colloquial and separable. Nach dem Stand fragen means to ask for the current status.

Other ways to say it

“Habe ich meinen Aufruf verpasst?” – Short and direct, from your perspective.

“Ist die B 42 schon dran gewesen?” – Colloquial; dran sein means to have one’s turn.

Watch out

“Wurde meine Nummer schon aufgeruft?” → “Wurde meine Nummer schon aufgerufen?”: Rufen is a strong verb, so its participle ends in -en: gerufen, aufgerufen. Learners often apply the regular -t pattern to it.

Try it yourself

  1. Translate into German: Has my number already been called?

    Show answer or example answer

    Wurde meine Nummer schon aufgerufen?

Wurde opens the passive question, meine Nummer is the subject, schon asks about timing, and aufgerufen is the participle at the end.

  2. Put the words in order: B / die / habe / Ich / Nummer / zweiundvierzig

    Show answer or example answer

Ich habe die Nummer B zweiundvierzig.

Habe is the verb, die Nummer the object, and B zweiundvierzig is read letter first, then the number as one word.

  3. Write this sentence in German: Then let us ask reception about the status.

    Show answer or example answer

Dann fragen wir am Empfang nach dem Stand.

Fragen follows dann. Am Empfang is dative for place, and nach dem Stand is dative after fragen nach.
