The idea
A passive with a modal combines the modal, the participle and werden at the end: “Der Behälter muss gewogen werden.” Wiegen is irregular, so the participle is gewogen. Eigen takes adjective endings: meinen eigenen Behälter. Zeigen takes a dative person and accusative thing: “Zeigen Sie ihr die gewünschte Menge.” Gewünscht (wanted) is a participle used as an adjective.
Other ways to say it
“Kann ich hier mit meiner Dose einkaufen?” – Casual everyday version; Dose is a box or tub.
“Wie läuft das hier mit eigenen Behältern?” – Asks about the whole procedure at once.
Examples
- Darf ich meinen eigenen Behälter verwenden?May I use my own container?
- Bitte fragen Sie zuerst an der Theke. Please ask at the counter first.
- Muss der leere Behälter gewogen werden?Does the empty container have to be weighed?
- Die Kollegin erklärt Ihnen unseren Ablauf. The colleague will explain our procedure.
- Ich möchte nur diese kleine Menge.I only want this small amount.
- Dann zeigen Sie ihr bitte die gewünschte Menge. Then please show her the amount you want.

Watch out
“Muss der leere Behälter gewiegt werden?” → “Muss der leere Behälter gewogen werden?”: Wiegen is a strong verb with a vowel change. Its participle is gewogen; the regular-looking gewiegt is wrong in this meaning.
