The idea

Teil changes gender with meaning: das Teil is a single object or component, der Teil a portion of a whole. “Als Muster” means as a sample. “Dürfen nicht” expresses that something must not happen: “Die Kappe darf nicht zu locker sitzen.” “Prüfen wir …” with the verb first is a suggestion, like let us. Maße (measurements) is plural; der Durchmesser is the diameter.

Other ways to say it

“Haben Sie so etwas in derselben Größe?” – Show the old part while asking; neutral.

“Der Durchmesser beträgt zwei Zentimeter.” – Gives the exact measurement; betragen means to amount to.

Watch out

“Ich habe den alten Teil als Muster dabei.” → “Ich habe das alte Teil als Muster dabei.”: For a physical component, Teil is neuter: das Teil. Der Teil means a share of something, as in der größte Teil der Arbeit.
