Describe relevant volunteering experience in German

The idea

Use the present tense for ongoing volunteering (unterstütze, sammle) and the Perfekt for what you have learned (habe gelernt). Be precise about your role: separating team decisions (“trifft unser Organisationsteam gemeinsam”) from your own responsibility (“liegt vor allem in …”) is credible. Ehrenamt or ehrenamtliche Tätigkeit is the usual term. Close with a relevance sentence using relevant für + accusative. Avoid inflating titles; a small, precise role is more convincing.

Other ways to say it

“Ehrenamtlich organisiere ich seit einem Jahr Nachbarschaftstreffen mit.” – Neutral; mitorganisieren shows a shared role.

“In meiner ehrenamtlichen Tätigkeit bin ich für Anmeldungen zuständig.” – Formal CV style; zuständig für names the responsibility.

Watch out

“Die endgültigen Entscheidungen macht unser Organisationsteam gemeinsam.” → “Die endgültigen Entscheidungen trifft unser Organisationsteam gemeinsam.”: German says Entscheidungen treffen, not machen. English “make a decision” leads to machen, which sounds wrong in written German.
