The idea
Use Sie throughout. Open with the direct question, then give the reason in two short sentences. “Einplanen” (to allow time for) is separable but stays whole as an infinitive after sollte. “In Ihrer Bestätigung steht …” refers to a document. Ask for a distinction with “Bitte unterscheiden Sie …”. “Mir hilft bereits …” lowers the bar: even a rough estimate is welcome. Close with how the answer helps you plan.
Other ways to say it
“Wie lange dauert der Termin ungefähr?” – Neutral and short; suits a phone call or chat.
“Mit welcher Dauer muss ich rechnen?” – Formal; “mit etwas rechnen” means to expect something.
Read the text
How much time should I allow for the agreed appointment?
Your confirmation currently gives only the starting time.
- Ich muss anschließend eine weitere Verpflichtung erreichen.I need to reach another commitment afterwards.
- Bitte unterscheiden Sie gegebenenfalls Gesprächsdauer und mögliche Wartezeit. Please distinguish, if applicable, conversation time and possible waiting time.
- Mir hilft bereits eine realistische zeitliche Einschätzung.Even a realistic estimate would help me.
Afterwards I can plan my other appointments accordingly.

Watch out
“Wie viele Zeit sollte ich einplanen?” → “Wie viel Zeit sollte ich einplanen?”: Zeit is uncountable here, so it takes viel, not viele. Viele is for countable plurals: wie viele Termine.

Show answer or example answer
