The idea

Keep the email short and formal: Betreff with job title and reference number if there is one, Anrede, the document, a one-line explanation, the assignment request, confirmation that nothing else changes, thanks. Avoid long apologies; a neutral fact (“war diese Anlage noch nicht enthalten”) is enough. Zuordnen takes a dative object (meiner Bewerbung). Reply in the same email thread where possible, so the recruiter finds it with your application.

Other ways to say it

“Anbei sende ich Ihnen das noch fehlende Zeugnis.” – Neutral and very short; suits a reply in the same thread.

“Leider fehlte in meiner Bewerbung die Arbeitsbescheinigung, die ich hiermit ergänze.” – Formal, with a brief acknowledgement of the gap.

Watch out

“Bitte ordnen Sie sie zu meiner Bewerbung zu.” → “Bitte ordnen Sie sie meiner Bewerbung zu.”: Zuordnen already contains zu as a prefix and takes a plain dative object. Adding the preposition zu doubles it, which comes from English “assign to”.

Try it yourself

  1. Translate into German: I am submitting the announced certificate as an addition to my application.

    Show answer or example answer

Zu meiner Bewerbung reiche ich die angekündigte Bescheinigung nach.

“Zu meiner Bewerbung” is fronted and names the context. “Reiche … nach” is the split form of nachreichen, and “angekündigte” recalls that you mentioned the certificate earlier.

  2. Put the words in order: Bewerbung / Bitte / die / für / genannte / meiner / ordnen / sie / Sie / Stelle / zu

    Show answer or example answer

Bitte ordnen Sie sie meiner Bewerbung für die genannte Stelle zu.

“Sie” (lower case) refers to die Bescheinigung, while “Sie” after ordnen is the formal you. “Meiner Bewerbung” is the dative object of zuordnen; “zu” closes the clause.

  3. Write this sentence in German: Thank you for adding to my documents.

    Show answer or example answer

Vielen Dank für die Ergänzung meiner Unterlagen.

“Die Ergänzung meiner Unterlagen” uses a genitive to say what is completed. Thanking for the addition politely assumes the recruiter will add it.
