The idea

Use Sie and quote the order number near the top. In “Meine Bestellung soll … eine andere Person abholen” the object comes first and the subject “eine andere Person” follows the verb: the word order stresses the order. “Soll” reports a plan, and “möglicherweise” keeps it open. Ask with “Bitte erläutern Sie, welche …” and “Teilen Sie mir bitte mit, wie …”. “Sich zuordnen lassen” means to be matched to the order.

Other ways to say it

“Darf meine Mitbewohnerin die Bestellung für mich abholen?” – Neutral and direct permission question.

“Reicht eine schriftliche Vollmacht für die Abholung aus?” – Formal; asks whether an authorisation letter is enough.

Watch out

“Meine Bestellung soll möglicherweise eine andere Person abgeholt.” → “Meine Bestellung soll möglicherweise eine andere Person abholen.”: After a modal verb, German uses the infinitive, not the participle. The active sentence needs abholen; a passive would be “soll … abgeholt werden”.

Try it yourself

  1. Translate into German: Another person may collect my order.

    Show answer or example answer

Meine Bestellung soll möglicherweise eine andere Person abholen.

The object “Meine Bestellung” comes first; “soll” is second and the subject “eine andere Person” follows. Context makes the roles clear.

  2. Put the words in order: Abholtag / Bestellnummer / bleiben / der / Die / gleich / und / vereinbarte

    Show answer or example answer

Die Bestellnummer und der vereinbarte Abholtag bleiben gleich.

Two subjects take the plural “bleiben”. “Der vereinbarte Abholtag” is the agreed pick-up day; “gleich bleiben” means to stay the same.

  3. Write this sentence in German: After your reply, I will confirm the desired change.

    Show answer or example answer

Nach Ihrer Rückmeldung bestätige ich die gewünschte Änderung.

Because the time phrase “Nach Ihrer Rückmeldung” opens the sentence, the verb “bestätige” precedes “ich”. “Die gewünschte Änderung” is the change you want.
