Request a digital copy of a receipt in German

The idea

Könnten Sie …? is the standard polite request in Sie letters; it is softer than Können Sie and less stiff than Ich bitte Sie. The verb senden takes two objects: the person in the dative (mir) and the thing in the accusative (eine Kopie). Kaufbeleg, Kassenbon and Quittung all name a receipt; Kaufbeleg sounds most official. Receipts printed on thermal paper often fade, which is a common and accepted reason. Close with thanks, not with pressure.

Other ways to say it

“Ist es möglich, den Kassenbon als PDF zu erhalten?” – Neutral and practical; names the format directly.

“Ich benötige für die Garantie eine Zweitschrift meiner Quittung.” – Formal; Zweitschrift means a duplicate and gives the reason at once.

Watch out

“Der Ausdruck ist inzwischen schwer zu lesbar.” → “Der Ausdruck ist inzwischen schwer lesbar.”: Two correct patterns are mixed: “schwer lesbar” (adjective in -bar) and “schwer zu lesen” (zu + infinitive). The -bar adjective already contains the meaning “can be”, so zu does not belong there.

   The question starts with the verb “Könnten”, the Konjunktiv II of können. “Mir” is the dative recipient, “eine digitale Kopie” the accusative object, and “meines Kaufbelegs” a genitive attached to Kopie.

   “Vorhanden” means existing or available; as an adjective it becomes “der vorhandene Ausdruck”. “Inzwischen” shows the change over time, and “schwer lesbar” is the reason for the request.

   “Zur” contracts “zu der”, dative feminine for “die Belegkopie”. The adjective “möglichen” politely admits that the shop may not be able to help.
