The idea
Within a shared flat (WG), people almost always use du. A neutral money question follows four steps: which bill, which item, the question, what is already clear. “Es geht um …” introduces the exact point. “Wofür” asks about purpose; in an indirect question it sends the verb to the end. “Bevor ich … überweise” links the payment to the explanation politely.
Other ways to say it
“Wofür sind eigentlich die zwanzig Euro unter Sonstiges?” – Casual and direct; “eigentlich” makes it sound curious, not critical.
“Kannst du mir den Posten kurz erklären?” – Neutral and short; works in any chat.

Watch out
“Kannst du mir sagen, wofür ist er angefallen?” → “Kannst du mir sagen, wofür er angefallen ist?”: An indirect question after “Kannst du mir sagen” is a subordinate clause, so the auxiliary “ist” goes to the end.

Show answer or example answer
“Bei der gemeinsamen Rechnung” sets the topic in the dative and fills first position; “verstehe” is second, and “noch nicht” softens the doubt.
Put the words in order: angefallen / du / er / ist / Kannst / mir / sagen / wofür
Show answer or example answer
“Anfallen” (perfect with sein) means a cost arises. “Wofür” asks about purpose, and the indirect question puts “angefallen ist” at the end.
Write this sentence in German: Please send me the corresponding explanation when you have time.
Show answer or example answer
“Schick” is the du imperative of schicken. “Zugehörige Erläuterung” means the explanation belonging to that item, and “wenn du Zeit hast” removes pressure.
