The idea

Use formal Sie with Anrede by name if possible (“Sehr geehrte Frau Lang,”) and “Mit freundlichen Grüßen” at the end. Five steps: interest, specific focus, experience, availability, question, offer. Sich interessieren für + accusative is the standard phrase; besonders makes the focus concrete. The Perfekt shows experience (habe … erstellt), the Konjunktiv II wäre presents your availability as an offer. Ending with an offer (“Gern sende ich Ihnen …”) is more polite than attaching everything unasked.

Other ways to say it

“Ich bin an einem zweiwöchigen Praktikum in Ihrem Team interessiert.” – Neutral alternative with interessiert an + dative.

“Bieten Sie im März Praktikumsplätze in der Veranstaltungsplanung an?” – Direct question; useful as a first line in a short contact form.

Watch out

“Ich interessiere mich an einem Praktikum in Ihrer Firma.” → “Ich interessiere mich für ein Praktikum in Ihrer Firma.”: Two patterns get mixed: sich interessieren für + accusative and interessiert sein an + dative. With the reflexive verb only für is correct.

Try it yourself

  1. Translate into German: I am interested in an internship in your event organization.

    Show answer or example answer

Ich interessiere mich für ein Praktikum in Ihrer Veranstaltungsorganisation.

“Interessiere mich für” takes the accusative “ein Praktikum”. “In Ihrer Veranstaltungsorganisation” uses in + dative and the capitalised Ihrer for formal address.

  2. Put the words in order: Ablaufpläne / bereits / erstellt / für / gemeinsame / habe / ich / In / Kurs / meinem / Projekte

    Show answer or example answer

In meinem Kurs habe ich bereits Ablaufpläne für gemeinsame Projekte erstellt.

“In meinem Kurs” comes first, so “habe” follows; “bereits” shows the experience already exists. The participle “erstellt” closes the Perfekt.

  3. Write this sentence in German: I would be happy to send you the requested documents afterwards.

    Show answer or example answer

Gern sende ich Ihnen anschließend die gewünschten Unterlagen.

“Gern” at the start makes the offer friendly and puts “sende” second. “Ihnen” is dative, “die gewünschten Unterlagen” accusative; “anschließend” means after their reply.
