Argue for clearer public event notices in German

The idea

Thesis with sollten, definition (Dazu gehören …), concession (kann … liefern), limit (Sie sollte aber … nicht), proposal (Ich schlage deshalb … vor), benefit (So können …). Dazu gehören lists what belongs to a category; with several items the verb is plural. Etwas sichtbar machen is a useful verb pattern. The concession-plus-aber step shows fairness to the other side. The final sentence explains the reader’s benefit, which is the strongest argument for the change.

Watch out

“Dazu gehört Ort, Zeit und die angesprochene Zielgruppe.” → “Dazu gehören Ort, Zeit und die angesprochene Zielgruppe.”: Several subjects joined by und take a plural verb. Because gehört comes before the list and Ort is singular, learners often choose the singular.
