The idea
A check-in to a friend uses du and the simple past of sein (“ich war”) for the visit. Observations work well with “mir ist … aufgefallen” (I noticed), where the person is dative and the thing noticed is the subject. Ask for information with “Bitte sag mir, ob …”. Confirm the next visit in the present tense with a time word: “Morgen komme ich …”. Close with a condition: “Wenn du etwas ändern möchtest, schreib mir bitte vorher.”
Other ways to say it
“Der Katze geht es gut, sie hat alles aufgefressen.” – Casual and reassuring; the first thing an owner wants to hear.
“Kurzes Update: Futter und Wasser sind aufgefüllt.” – Neutral and brief; typical for a quick chat.

Watch out
“Beim Abschließen habe ich den lockeren Türgriff aufgefallen.” → “Beim Abschließen ist mir der lockere Türgriff aufgefallen.”: Auffallen works the other way round from “to notice”: the thing is the subject, the person is dative, and the perfect uses sein.

Show answer or example answer
Ich war heute gegen achtzehn Uhr bei deiner Katze.
“Ich war … bei deiner Katze” uses bei + dative for being with a person or animal. “Gegen achtzehn Uhr” gives an approximate time.
Put the words in order: Abschließen / aufgefallen / Beim / der / ist / lockere / mir / Türgriff
Show answer or example answer
Beim Abschließen ist mir der lockere Türgriff aufgefallen.
“Beim Abschließen” (while locking up) is first, so “ist” follows. “Mir” is dative, “der lockere Türgriff” is the subject, and “aufgefallen” ends the sentence.
Write this sentence in German: If you would like to change anything, please write beforehand.
Show answer or example answer
Wenn du etwas ändern möchtest, schreib mir bitte vorher.
The wenn-clause comes first with “möchtest” at its end; the main clause starts with the imperative “schreib”, and “vorher” asks for notice in advance.
