The idea

A group proposal among colleagues or friends often uses ihr. Start with the idea in Konjunktiv II (“könnten wir gemeinsam …”), then the amount with “höchstens” (at most) or “bis zu” (up to). A relative clause with wer includes everyone: “Wer nichts beitragen möchte, kann trotzdem …”. Note the genitive name “Leas Abschied” without an apostrophe. Close with a deadline (“bis Sonntag”) and the next step.

Other ways to say it

“Wollen wir zusammen etwas für Lea besorgen?” – Casual opener before naming the gift.

“Jeder gibt, so viel er möchte, maximal fünf Euro.” – Neutral and direct about the limit.

Watch out

“Für Lea’s Abschied könnten wir ein Fotoalbum gestalten.” → “Für Leas Abschied könnten wir ein Fotoalbum gestalten.”: German adds -s to a name in the genitive without an apostrophe. The apostrophe is only used when the name already ends in an s-sound, as in Max’ Abschied.

    “Wer …, kann …” is a relative clause without an antecedent; it fills first position, so “kann” follows directly. “Trotzdem” means even so.

    “Etwas bereitstellen” (to make available) is separable: “stelle … bereit”. “Zur gemeinsamen Ansicht” means so that everyone can look at it.
