The idea

A cost summary among friends uses ihr and a clear order: overview, what is included, what is excluded, request to check, next step. Genitive phrases like “unserer gemeinsamen Ausflugskosten” are common in such summaries. Words for money matters are useful: der Anteil (share), die Überweisung (bank transfer), der Betrag (amount), aufführen (to list). The request “Bitte prüft, ob …” uses the ihr imperative plus an indirect yes/no question with the verb at the end.

Other ways to say it

“Ich habe alles in eine Tabelle eingetragen.” – Neutral; useful when you attach a spreadsheet.

“Jeder von euch zahlt am Ende denselben Anteil.” – Casual and direct for an equal split.

Watch out

“Bitte prüft, ob eure Anteile sind richtig zugeordnet.” → “Bitte prüft, ob eure Anteile richtig zugeordnet sind.”: After ob the finite verb goes to the end of the clause. Learners often keep main-clause order and put “sind” in second place.

Try it yourself

  1. Translate into German: Here is the overview of our shared trip costs.

Hier ist die Übersicht unserer gemeinsamen Ausflugskosten.

“Hier ist” presents something the reader can see. “Unserer gemeinsamen Ausflugskosten” is genitive plural, so both the possessive and the adjective end in -er/-en.

  2. Put the words in order: Die / Einkäufe / enthalten / nicht / persönlichen / sind

    Show answer or example answer

Die persönlichen Einkäufe sind nicht enthalten.

“Bitte prüft” is the ihr imperative. The ob-clause holds the passive “zugeordnet sind” at the end; “jeweiligen” stresses each person’s own share.

  3. Write this sentence in German: Afterwards I will send you the confirmed amounts.

Danach schicke ich euch die bestätigten Beträge.

“Danach” starts the sentence, so “schicke” comes second. “Euch” is dative (to you all), and “die bestätigten Beträge” is the accusative object.

Use it today

After a weekend trip with three friends, write a message presenting the costs, naming one item that is not shared, and asking them to check before paying.
