The idea
Name the error, give the fix, explain the difference, apologise. The state passive war … angehängt describes the situation without heavy self-blame. Stattdessen (instead) tells readers what to do now. Stand is office German for the version of a document at a certain time (“der freigegebene Stand vom heutigen Morgen”). One apology is enough; Entschuldigt bitte (ihr) or Entschuldigen Sie bitte (Sie) takes the accusative of the thing you apologise for. Do not resend the whole thread.
Other ways to say it
“Sorry, da ist mir die falsche Datei reingerutscht – hier die richtige.” – Very casual; only for close colleagues or a team chat.
“Bitte entschuldigen Sie: Anbei erhalten Sie die korrekte Fassung.” – Formal Sie version for clients or external partners.

Watch out
“Entschuldigt bitte die zusätzliche Aufwand.” → “Entschuldigt bitte den zusätzlichen Aufwand.”: Aufwand is masculine (der Aufwand), and entschuldigen takes an accusative object, so the article is den and the adjective ends in -en.

Show answer or example answer
In meiner letzten E-Mail war die falsche Datei angehängt.
“In meiner letzten E-Mail” is fronted, so “war” comes second. “War … angehängt” describes the state of the email, and “die falsche Datei” is the subject.
Put the words in order: den / enthält / freigegebenen / heutigen / Morgen / Sie / Stand / vom
Show answer or example answer
Sie enthält den freigegebenen Stand vom heutigen Morgen.
“Sie” refers back to die Anlage. “Vom heutigen Morgen” contracts von dem and dates the version, while “freigegeben” shows it was approved.
Write this sentence in German: Please excuse the extra work caused by the mix-up.
Show answer or example answer
Entschuldigt bitte den zusätzlichen Aufwand durch die Verwechslung.
The ihr imperative “Entschuldigt” opens the sentence, “bitte” softens it, and “durch die Verwechslung” names the cause with durch + accusative.
