Use かぶる to talk about putting something on your head.

The idea

かぶる is a godan verb. Mark the hat or helmet with を: 帽子をかぶります means “put on a hat.” かぶっています describes the resulting state of wearing it.

  • 私わたしは毎朝まいあさ、帽子ぼうしをかぶります。I put on a hat every morning.
  • 昨日きのう、赤あかい帽子ぼうしをかぶりました。Yesterday I put on a red hat.

Watch out

Do not use かぶる for shoes: use はく. Its て form is かぶって, with a small っ, not かぶて.
