The currency unit 円 follows the number and is read えん.

The idea

Ask いくらですか for a price and answer, for example, 三百円です. Three hundred is さんびゃく, six hundred ろっぴゃく and eight hundred はっぴゃく; three thousand is さんぜん. Ten thousand is 一万, read いちまん.

Watch out

A bare 千 is せん, not いちせん; 一万円, however, includes いち. Actual prices depend on the item and date.
