Auf dem Flohmarkt kaufte Amir ein altes Radio für fünf Euro. Das Holzgehäuse war schön, doch das Gerät blieb still. Der Verkäufer hatte deutlich gesagt, dass es nicht funktionierte. Amir wollte es beim Reparaturtreff im Nachbarschaftshaus untersuchen lassen.
Am Mittwoch nahm er das Radio mit. Eine Helferin namens Jutta fragte zuerst nach dem Stecker und dem Kabel. Das Kabel war beschädigt. Sie erklärte Amir, dass er das Gerät so nicht anschließen dürfe. Jutta war ausgebildete Elektrikerin. Während sie das Radio prüfte, reinigte Amir vorsichtig das Gehäuse mit einem trockenen Tuch.
Nach einer Weile musste Jutta ein passendes Ersatzteil bestellen. Amir war enttäuscht, weil er das Radio gern sofort gehört hätte. Jutta schlug vor, in der Zwischenzeit die fehlende Rückwand aus Holz nachzubauen. Sie gab ihm die genauen Maße. Zu Hause half ihm sein Nachbar dabei.
Zwei Wochen später trafen sie sich wieder. Jutta hatte das Kabel fachgerecht ersetzt und das Radio geprüft. Amir brachte die neue Rückwand mit. Als sie das Gerät einschalteten, erklang leise Musik. Amir drehte den Regler langsam höher. Er hatte mehr als fünf Euro ausgegeben, aber auch viel gelernt. Vor allem wusste er nun, welche Arbeiten er selbst machen konnte und wann er eine Fachperson brauchte.
