Describe a walk beyond the town with precise words for the ground, the water and the plants around you. This set moves from a whole landscape to a single leaf; learn the words in groups rather than as an unrelated list.
The idea
Choose the noun for what you are naming: dağ, tepe and vadi describe landforms; göl, nehir and şelale name water features. Bitki is the broad word for a plant, ağaç is a tree and çam is a kind of tree. For a specific leaf or flower, use yaprak or çiçek. Nehir and ırmak can both name a river.

Watch out
Do not automatically translate a beautiful view as doğa. Doğa means nature, while manzara is the scene visible from a place: deniz manzarası is a sea view. A view of city buildings can also be a manzara, so the word does not require a natural setting.
Try it yourself
Choose: the long, low area between mountains.
Show answer or example answer
vadi
vadi: the clue places the area low down between mountains; tepe would name a raised hill instead.
Complete: flowers and trees are each a kind of ___.
Show answer or example answer
bitki
bitki: flowers and trees belong to the same broad group of living things. Kaya means a rock and cannot group them together.
The sea is visible from the balcony. Choose the word for the wonderful view.
Show answer or example answer
manzara
manzara: the balcony gives a viewpoint, and the sea is what you see from it. Yaprak would name a leaf, not that whole scene.
Name a large flowing watercourse. Both options are accepted.
Show answer or example answer
nehir / ırmak
nehir / ırmak: both words name a river and fit the flowing-water clue. Göl would mean a lake, so it would change the kind of feature.
