A useful product review tells another buyer what using the item was like. Work with an invented bag purchase and move from a general judgement to details that support it.

The idea

Build this review in four steps: purchase and use, overall opinion, supporting details, then a recommendation. Use aldım for the completed purchase and kullanıyorum for current use. Put the reason after çünkü: Çantayı beğendim çünkü içi geniş. Use ama or fakat to introduce a drawback alongside a strength. End by naming a suitable use, as in Günlük kullanım için bu çantayı tavsiye ediyorum. A specific observation gives the reader more than repeated praise.

Watch out

Changing the expression of satisfaction also changes the noun ending: çantayı beğendim, but çantadan memnun kaldım. Do not carry the object form çantayı over to memnun kaldım. Here the bag is what you are satisfied with; -dan does not describe physical movement.

Try it yourself

  1. Choose the connector that introduces the reason for liking the bag.

    Show answer or example answer

    çünkü

çünkü: the spacious interior explains why the writer liked the bag. It supplies a reason, not a contrasting problem.

  2. Choose a connector that contrasts a strong point with a drawback. Two of the options fit.

    Show answer or example answer

    ama / fakat

ama / fakat: a sturdy fabric is a positive feature, while a sticking zip is a drawback. Either word joins these opposing assessments; çünkü would present the faulty zip as a reason for the sturdy fabric.

  3. Choose the form of “bag” that goes with being satisfied.

    Show answer or example answer

    çantadan

çantadan: memnun kaldım names satisfaction with the bag, so the noun takes the ablative here. The final vowel in çanta gives -dan; çantayı would fit beğendim instead.

  4. Finish with a positive recommendation for everyday use, not a return.

    tavsiye ediyorum

tavsiye ediyorum: the writer is recommending the bag for daily use. İade ediyorum would announce returning it, which does not express the requested positive conclusion.

Use it today

Write a review of an invented purchase in 70–90 Turkish words. Say when you bought it and how you use it. Give two concrete positives and one drawback, use a reason and a contrast, and finish with a recommendation for a particular use. Check that the conclusion fits the details.
