Enerji covers both energy used by a device and a person’s capacity for effort. Practise describing what consumes energy, whose energy is involved and how a specific amount becomes the object of a verb.
The idea
The final i belongs to the stem: it stays in enerjiyi, enerjiye and enerjinin. There is no consonant softening. Compare enerjisi (his/her/its energy) with enerjisini when that energy is a definite object; güneş enerjisi also keeps its possessive ending before case endings. Enerji is usually singular for an amount; enerjiler can distinguish separate people’s energies or different kinds. With onların, both enerjisi and enerjileri can express their energy, depending on context.

Watch out
Do not mistake the final i in enerji for a possessive ending. Takımın enerjiyi does not mean “the team’s energy” as an object: write takımın enerjisini. Nor does “a lot of energy” require a plural: çok enerji is the ordinary expression.
Try it yourself
Complete with “energy”: We store the energy produced. Write the missing word.
Show answer or example answer
enerjiyi
enerjiyi: the sentence identifies the energy produced as the thing being stored. The definite object needs the accusative; y joins the stem’s final vowel to the ending.
Complete: We must preserve the team’s energy. Write only the missing noun with its endings.
Show answer or example answer
enerjisini
enerjisini: takımın names the owner, while korumalıyız makes that owned energy the object. Keep enerjisi and add -ni; enerjiyi would lose the ownership relation.
Complete: Our energy is enough for this task. Keep the noun singular.
Show answer or example answer
enerjimiz
enerjimiz: bizim identifies the speakers as owners. Their energy is the subject of yeter, so a possessive ending is enough; no object ending or plural is needed.
Write the bare plural of “energy”, without a possessive or case ending.

enerjiler
enerjiler: the task explicitly asks for the plural alone. The last vowel i selects -ler; this form does not by itself mean “a lot of energy”.
