Choose a polite Japanese greeting for the time of day and introduce yourself naturally at a first meeting.
The idea
Use おはようございます in the morning and こんにちは during the day. Say はじめまして when meeting for the first time, give your name with です, then use よろしくお願いします to open a friendly relationship. こんばんは is an evening greeting; はじめまして is for a first meeting, not every later encounter.
