Use 習う for learning a skill or subject from someone who teaches it.

The idea

The learner is the subject; mark the subject or skill with を and the teacher with に or から. 習う is a godan verb: its polite form is 習います and its て form is 習って.

Watch out

勉強する means to study and does not itself imply a teacher. With 習う, と can mark a fellow learner, as in 友達と, rather than the teacher.
