A wall can be painted, carry a shelf or belong to a room. Use duvar in these situations and read the whole phrase to identify what each ending does.
The idea
The stem duvar stays intact: duvara, duvarı, duvarlar, duvarımız. Its last vowel is a, so write dotless ı in duvarı, not i or u. In Duvarı boyuyoruz, duvarı is the definite object; in odanın duvarı, the same spelling marks the wall belonging to the room. With location, that second phrase becomes odanın duvarında.

Watch out
Do not drop the possession ending when adding a case: odanın duvarda cannot mean “on the room’s wall”. Keep duvarı and add -n-da: odanın duvarında. By contrast, duvarda simply means “on the wall”; it does not name an owner.
